Traffic Calming

Schall & Russo acted as a Team Project Manager
and urban planner from the initial Preliminary Design
Investigation through to Construction Documents for
the $12 million reconfiguration of Pennsylvania
Avenue at Belt Parkway, Brooklyn. The redesign included
a groundbreaking traffic calming project where one lane
of traffic was removed in each direction to create a
30 foot wide median.
Other work in the project included roadway realignment,
streetscape improvements as well as governmental agency
and residents approvals. The Preliminary Design is a
2002 Art Commission Award winner.
