Search Methodology
Steven Schall has worked as an executive, program manager,
planner and social worker in the non-profit and government
arenas for his entire career. His organizational leadership
and staff development experience are essential and distinguishing
ingredients in helping clients find the right match.
As an Executive Search Consultant, he has successfully
recruited a wide range of candidates for non-profits

In many cases, Schall & Russo Planning Works conducts
its searches in connection with its start-up consulting
for new organizations and programs. We devote substantial
up-front time with the client and key stakeholders to:
understand the organization and its growth; clarify
the challenges and opportunities presented by the position;
and develop a clear, concise and inspiring job announcement.
Next, we map out a plan with the client for candidate
review and screening, interviews and reference checks.
We use our extensive professional network in the non-profit,
government and private sectors, as well as clients’
key contacts, to zero in on the most qualified candidates.
In addition, for each search we evaluate the use of
targeted electronic and/or print media. We conduct our
work with the utmost attention to confidentiality, as
potential candidates may not currently be in the job
market.
