Improving Ergonomics

New Headquarters for National Foundation: Schall & Russo has worked closely with the leadership, staff and Board of The Ms. Foundation for Women (MFW) to move its national headquarters from lower Manhattan to Brooklyn. Schall & Russo:

• facilitated and managed an analysis of MFW’s organizational and space needs;
• coordinated a dialogue with the realtor, in regard to location and cost;
• reviewed and advised, on information supplied by the realtor, in regard to space options and financial impact;
• provided project management during the design, signage, build-out, furniture and move-in phase for a 14,500 SF space.

Of particular note, Schall & Russo helped the client achieve a “green” project, healthier workplace ergonomics and upgraded technology support. The green elements included: an open office design and use of glass to allow daylight to enter the central office space; and the use of environmentally sensitive construction materials (e.g., carpet, flooring, ceiling tiles) and products (e.g., desks, tables, countertops, kitchen appliances). The ergonomic achievements included selecting computers, keyboard trays and chairs to encourage correct ergonomics and good posture. The technology achievements included: instituting electronic document management, wireless access, and improved staff mobile access.
